McGarvey Participates in White House Roundtdable Discussion

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky state Sen. Morgan McGarvey participated in two roundtable discussions at the White House this week.

The two-term state senator from Louisville discussed gun violence and middle class economics with officials in President Barack Obama’s administration.

The gun violence discussion has particular importance for Louisville, which has set a record for the number of homicides this year. McGarvey said he hoped the discussion about middle class economics would give him insight as lawmakers prepare to tackle tax reform in the upcoming legislative session.

McGarvey, an attorney, was first elected to the state Senate in 2012.
