Marines collect toys for Toys for Tots program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Members of the United States Marine Corps descended on the Toys ‘R’ Us store in Lexington on Thursday, to gather up gifts for their Toys for Tots program.

Marines cleared the shelves, picking up some $15,000 dollars worth of gifts to be distributed to children, some of whom would otherwise not have much under the tree during the holidays.

The coordinator of Toys for Tots in Lexington, Gunnery Sergeant Noah Schwartz, says, “The best part for me is being to help the families that are truly in need.  We provide those children with enough toys that they have a Christmas, and that gives me the most satisfaction.”

The Marine Corps is still accepting donations of unwrapped toys for the program.
