Marine Corps Kicks Off 2016 Toys for Tots Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Getting ahead of Christmas by 38 days, the Marine Corps has sprung into action, making sure children in the area have a gift under the tree.

On Wednesday, nearly $28,000 dollars worth of toys were purchased for needy children from Lexington’s Toys “R” Us store as part of the “Toys for Tots” program.

For several hours, Marines combed the aisles of the store in search of gifts for children aged 3 to 14 years old.

Since 1947, thousands of toys have been distributed to children in Fayette, Woodford, Franklin, and Jessamine Counties.

There is still time to donate a new and unwrapped toy.  They can be delivered to Toys “R” Us.

Financial donations are also being accepted at
