UPDATE: Lexington man with Detroit ties ID’ed as Laurel shooting victim

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 20-year-old former Detroit, Mich. resident who had been living in Lexington has been identified as the person whose body was found dumped in Laurel County earlier this week.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Regginald Dawayne Johnson has been identified as the body discovered Monday afternoon off Sinking Creek Road west of London.

The identification came with the help of multiple agencies as the investigation continues into the death.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Laurel County Sheriff’s investigators have released more information about a shooting victim found Monday in a wooded area. They hope the information will lead to an identification.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said the victim found with multiple gunshot wounds off Sinking Creek Road is a Black male, 22 to 30 years of age, approximately 6 feet tall, slim build, who has “East Side” tattooed on the inside of his right bicep and “Raised Me” tattooed on the inside of his left bicep.

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A homicide investigation is underway in Laurel County after a passerby found a man in a wooded area off Sinking Creek Road on Monday afternoon who had apparently been shot multiple times, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the man’s body was found approximately 14-miles west of London around 4:43 p.m.

No name was immediately released.

An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, according to investigators.
