Man Climbs Embankment To Safety Following Crash

State Police said James Harrison, 31, of McKee, was driving an SUV on rain-slick Hammonds Fork Road in Rockcastle County Thursday night.

Investigators said the SUV slid off the road and down an embankment, throwing Harrison from the vehicle, who was not wearing a seat belt.

State Police said Harrison somehow managed to climb up the steep embankment where he was found by a passerby, some 11-hours after his wreck.

The passing motorist took Harrison to a Madison County EMS Station where he was then taken to U.K. Hospital in Lexington.

State Police said no drug or alcohol usage was suspected.

The accident is still under investigation.
