Man charged with manslaughter in fatal fire in Winchester

WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) – The father of one of three people who died in an apartment fire in Winchester has been charged in their deaths.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports (http://bit.ly/1WQsOIS ) that 55-year-old Jackie Hisle Jr. was indicted Thursday on three counts of second-degree manslaughter.

Hisle’s 36-year-old son, Donald Hisle, and 29-year-old Tina Reynolds died of smoke inhalation in the March 11 fire. Another woman, 71-year-old Dixie Everman, died of smoke inhalation and blunt-force trauma after she jumped from a second-story window.

Police Detective Tom Beall testified at a hearing that Jackie Hisle was smoking a cigarette near an oxygen machine that had warning labels saying that no smoking was to occur near it.

The indictment said Jackie Hisle “wantonly caused” the deaths. The Associated Press could not immediately determine if Hisle has a lawyer.
