Man Charged With 87-Year-Old’s Murder to Go Before Grand Jury

A man charged with brutally beating an 87-year-old man to death earlier this month appeared in court by video conferencing Wednesday afternoon.

During the appearance, it was decided that Cory Don Etherington’s preliminary hearing would be waived to a grand jury.

According to Lexington police, Etherington approached John Tully on July 11 at Old Farm Apartments and began beating him in broad daylight.

Investigators said Tully died two days later due to blunt force trauma.

Etherington has been charged with one count of murder.

No bond has been set.
