Man charged after threatening to kill wife in Laurel County
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a man was arrested after locking his wife inside a house and threatening to kill her if she left.
Deputies arrested 62-year-old Johnny D. Burdine in London early Tuesday morning.
Police say the arrest occurred off Somerset Road after deputies were dispatched to an out-of-control male subject.
At the scene, deputies located a woman inside the window of the front door who said she had been padlocked inside by her husband and that he threatened to kill her if she left.
Deputies say they could hear Burdine in the basement yelling and beating on something. They say they then forced the front door open allowing the woman to leave.
According to authorities, Burdine came running through the house toward deputies with a large crowbar and a hammer. Deputies say after being asked multiple times to drop the weapons, Burdine dropped them and ran onto the front porch yelling and cursing.
Deputies say they determined Burdine was under the influence. He was charged with unlawful imprisonment, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and menacing.
