Man Charged in Shooting of Lexington Store Clerk

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Police say they found their suspect in the shooting of a Lexington gas station clerk and they didn’t have to look far – he was already in jail.

An assault and robbery charges were filed against 22-year-old Deverious Jones in connection to two armed robberies back on September 17th.

One robbery was at the Shell Gas Station on Lexington Green Circle, where police say Jones and another suspect robbed a clerk at gunpoint.

Police say 40 minutes later, Jones and another man hit the Marathon Station at Lansdowne Drive.

They say Jones pulled out a gun and struggled with the clerk.

That clerk, Charles Moore, was shot several times.

He is now paralyzed from the waist down.

Jones was arrested a few days later, on September 22, and charged in connection to a home invasion and the armed robbery of two sporting goods stores earlier in the month.
