Man charged with DUI in fatal Adair County crash

COLUMBIA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say an arrest has been made after an investigation into a fatal collision in Adair County back in March.

Troopers say the wreck happened on KY 61 on March 11th just before 3:30 p.m.

According to investigators, 52-year-old Samuel Edwards was driving northbound when he lost control of his vehicle, running off the roadway and nearly flipping before hitting a tree and coming to rest in a pond.

Both he and a passenger in the car, 45-year-old Alesha Morrison, were thrown out of the car in the wreck.  Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County Coroner.

On Saturday, April 22nd, Samuel Edwards was charged with murder and DUI.

He was taken to the Adair County Detention Center.
