Man charged after chase, fight with deputy

CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 44-year-old Clay County man suspected of being drunk is charged with fleeing and resisting arrest after fighting with a sheriff’s deputy who was trying to do the man a favor by getting him out of the road.

According to Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson, Daniel Horne, of Highway 421 South, was charged late Wednesday night when he tried to flee on foot from Deputy Wes Brumley and then turned and fought with the deputy.

Brumley responded to a call concerning Horne being drunk and in the middle of the road, the sheriff said in a Facebook post. When Brumley arrived, Horne took off and when the deputy caught up, Horne became “combative,” the sheriff wrote.

Manchester Police K-9 officer Ryan Jackson arrived to help.

Once in a patrol car, Horne kicked at the doors and windows, according to the sheriff.

Horne is charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, fleeing on foot, and criminal mischief.
