Man charged after horses seized from Mercer County farm
HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was charged Wednesday after the discovery of 43 horses, suspected of neglect, on a farm in Mercer County, according to state authorities. The farm is in Martin Lane. The state veterinarian says five of the horses require extensive care. People have donated hay and other supplies.
The state charged Chuck Borell with 43-counts of second-degree animal cruelty.
According to records, Borell is the owner of the company that’s leasing the farm. His daughter, Maria Borell, is a well-known thoroughbred trainer. The records list her as the company’s farm manager.
