Man Behind Bars For Allegedly Shooting Woman In The Face

Lexington Police arrested Darien Tichener around 7 a.m. on Wednesday for allegedly shooting a woman he knew in the face.

Fayette County Detention Center officials said he is being held there and was charged with assault in the first degree. 

Police said the woman was talking after she was shot around 4 a.m. and should be okay.  She was treated at U.K. Hospital.

The shooting happened in a parked car on the street in front of 2825 Snow Road.

Neighbors said they are on edge.

"I mean getting shot in the face.  That’s awful," said Billy Stith, who lives next door to the victim. 

Officers say the victim is in her late teens or early twenties. 

Tickenor was caught on nearby Fenwick Street, questinoed by police and then arrested. 

He will be arraigned at the Fayette County District Court at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
