Man arrested on strangulation charge on Valentine’s

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 25-year-old East Bernstadt man is arrested on strangulation and other charges following an alleged Valentine’s Day incident.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Jacque M. Bush was arrested at about 3 a.m. Sunday by Deputy Tommy Houston and Deputy Hobie Daugherty with assistance from a KSP trooper at a home on Mount Zion Road approximately 12 miles north of London.

Deputies responded to the home to a complaint from a man that another man, identified as Bush, was holding the complainant’s wife against her will, Root said.

While on the way, deputies learned the woman had been there for a period of time when apparently Bush became violent and started shooting a firearm outside the residence, according to the sheriff’s statement. When deputies arrived, they learned Bush allegedly began to get violent breaking objects throughout the residence and punching holes in the walls, prompting the woman to call her husband to come get her, Root said.

Bush then assaulted the woman, placed his hands around her neck choking her and bit her lip causing a noticeable bruise, the sheriff said in the statement.

Bush was charged with assault – 4th degree; unlawful imprisonment – first-degree; strangulation – first-degree.
