Man arrested after crashing during high-speed chase
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A theft suspect was arrested Wednesday after crashing into an outbuilding during a high-speed chase, according to Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Investigators say 30-year old Rex Gray, of Woollum, came out of a store where he was recognized as the man wanted for a previous theft from that business.
Deputies say when Gray was approached, he got into a car and took off westbound on the Cumberland Gap Parkway. They say he ran a red light at the interstate intersection and drove out KY 770 and onto Locust Grove Road.
Investigators say the chase lasted for six miles at speeds that reached 90-miles per hour. They say Gray lost control of his vehicle at Locust Grove Road and Cassidy Road, hit a residential outbuilding, which was destroyed, and finally came to rest.
Deputies say Gray had a pill bottle with no label, pills were strewn across the floor of his vehicle, along with counterfeit money and marijuana.
A passenger in his car, 28-year old Jennifer Ann Lovett, of Corbin, was arrested and charged with menacing.
Gray and Lovett were taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
