Accused Corbin bank robber faces same charge in Tennessee

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ)- According to the News-Journal newspaper, the man police say robbed a Corbin bank in November is now in custody in Tennessee in connection with another bank robbery in Knoxville.

Corbin Police say they arrested 55-year-old Timothy Sample in connection to a robbery at the UT Federal Credit Union on Kingston Pike in Knoxville.

Police say paperwork has been filed to have Sample returned to Whitley County, where he was indicted for his connection in a robbery at the Hometown Bank of Corbin.

Police in Corbin tell the Times Tribune they believe the suspect involved in an armed robbery at Hometown Bank Tuesday is 55-year-old Timothy Sample.

They tell the newspaper Sample was working at a local business in Corbin.

Police also say Sample did have a bank robbery in his criminal history, a number of theft charges including auto theft, and dangerous drug convictions.

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ)- According to the Times Tribune, a Corbin bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

Corbin Police Department Capt. Coy Wilson says the armed robbery happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hometown Bank located at 3779 Cumberland Falls Highway, near the intersection of Corinth Road and Cumberland Falls Highway.

Wilson says a white man came into the bank wearing a hoodie and a flannel over-shirt, presented a gun to the bank teller and demanded money.

The Times Tribune says the man ran from the bank on foot and it is believed he may have gotten into a gray or silver car.

The amount of money he got away with is undetermined as of Tuesday at 4 p.m., according to Wilson.

A nearby school, Oak Grove Elementary School, was placed on lockdown as a security measure, but it has since been lifted.
