Man accused of running from deputies, trying to hit them with car

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office say they arrested a man at his home Tuesday, who ran from officers on Monday.

The sheriff’s office says it tried to stop 47-year-old David McCarty on Monday for narcotics related warrants. Deputies say McCarty tried to hit two deputies with his car, went off the road, hit a tree and got stuck in a ravine. McCarty ran into the woods.

Deputies say that on Tuesday, they surrounded McCarty’s house, he tried to run off, but was immediately arrested.

Deputies found over 40 grams of assorted narcotics, meth, cocaine, heroine, Narcan, and a stolen handgun.

The sheriff’s office says additional charges are pending.
