Man accused of injuring teens riding in back of pickup

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Barbourville Police say two teenagers were seriously injured on Thursday when they were thrown from the bed of a pickup truck driven by Dustin Williams of Flat Lick.

Investigators say a 17-year old girl and a 19-year old girl were riding in the bed of the pickup in Union Plaza in Barbourville just before midnight when Williams made a hard left turn and quickly accelerated between parking lanes, throwing the teens to the ground.

Police say the teens were taken to Knox County Hospital and then airlifted to trauma centers for further treatment.  Their names were not released.

Investigators say Williams was charged with two counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and two counts of Assault 2nd Degree.  He was lodged in the Knox County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
