UPDATE: Suspect in Lexington murder pleads not guilty
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -Patrick Ryan Jones, the accused suspect in the dismemberment and murder of Haley Bourgeois, appeared before a judge in Lexington on Friday.
Jones entered a plea of not guilty.
The judge did not set a bond for Jones.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on August 1.
A murder suspect appears in court Friday — one day after police found the dismembered body of a woman in Lexington.
Police say the body of 20-year-old Haley Bourgeois was found murdered on Thursday. Investigators say her body had been dismembered with parts found in dumpsters around Malabu Drive.
The coroner says she died of multiple blunt force trauma. According to court documents, the weapon used to kill her was a wrench.
Lexington police accuse 24-year-old Patrick Ryan Jones with her murder. Documents say Jones is Bourgeois’ ex-boyfriend and the father of her child.
Jones’ arrest citation says he confessed to someone that he killed Bourgeois and cut up her body. That person called police resulting in Jones’ arrest.
In addition to the murder charges — Jones is also charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
