Major power outage reported in Lexington

According to Kentucky Emergency Management, most customer power has been restored as of 2 p.m. The utilities say 740 customers are still without power in the Cardinal Valley – Pine Meadow area.

Some traffic signals along Versailles Road may be affected.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A major power outage is affecting thousands of customers in Lexington.

Lexington Emergency Management says the power outage is in parts of downtown and along the Versailles Road corridor.

According to Kentucky Utilities’ power outage map, at least 6,000 customers are without power.

Traffic lights are also out in the area and drivers are being told to use caution when traveling in that area.

Kentucky Utilities says the power outage was triggered by a transmission line disruption. Most customers should see power restored shortly. Kentucky Utilities says a full restoration of power is expected no later than 3:30 p.m.
