Machete-wielding Lexington man causes school lockdowns

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington man was arrested in Daviess County after reportedly pulling a machete in a hijacking attempt, according to a report in the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The report says 24-year old Billy Bowles, of Lexington, caused area schools and businesses to go on lockdown Thursday.

Bowles was reportedly hitching a ride to the Ohio County line, then demanded to be taken to Louisville, but the driver refused, an argument ensued, both got out of the vehicle and that’s when Bowles allegedly pulled the machete, according to the report.

Investigators say Bowles was charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking.
