Luminate Lexington holiday festivities announced

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Luminate Lexington, presented by Kentucky Utilities, has announced the schedule of holiday festivities for 2015 in downtown Lexington.

Lexington will kick off the Holiday season on Friday, November 27, in and around Triangle Park. Along with the Unified Trust Company Ice Rink, there will be a Holiday Artist’s Market, Holiday Live!, and the Official Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The day will begin at 10 a.m. with skating on the Unified Trust Company Ice Rink. Skaters can take to the ice between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. for a 90-minute session at a cost of $11.00. The Unified Trust Company Ice Rink is currently open for the season daily through January 11. For operating hours, visit downtownlex.com.

The Holiday Artist’s Market will open in Triangle Park at 2 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. The market will be held on November 27, December 5, December 12, and December 19. Local artists will be selling their creations including jewelry, woodworks, home décor, and more.

Holiday Live!, a musical showcase featuring local performing arts groups, will begin at 2:30 p.m. Performances will take place on a stage located on Main Street across from Triangle Park. The entertainment will lead up to the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m., when Santa and Mayor Gray will turn the key to light up Lexington’s official tree at Triangle Park and all over downtown.

Lexington’s Christmas Parade will take place on Tuesday, December 1, at 7 p.m.  The evening parade will be held downtown on Main Street between Midland Avenue and Mill Street.

Main Street will provide a backdrop for the parade with white lights in the trees along the street and in Phoenix Park and the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza. The review stand and handicap seating area will be located on Main Street near North Limestone.

Parade entry applications are being accepted until Monday November 23, and can be found at downtownlex.com.
