LPD: Woman lied about stabbing, robbery
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman who told police she was robbed and stabbed in the driveway of her Lexington home is facing charges.
Lexington police were called to the home in the 600-block of Brookgreen Lane around 11 a.m. Monday and found a woman stabbed.
Police say 45-year-old Callie Jones told them a man wearing black clothing and a ski mask came up to her as she was getting out of her SUV, took money and credit cards from her wallet then stabbed her three times.
She was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police say Jones later admitted she made up the story and injured herself because she owed money to family members.
Jones has been charged with falsely reporting a crime.
