LPD: Woman forced at gunpoint to take money from ATM

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police want to find the man who they say forced a woman at gunpoint to withdraw money from a bank.

Police say a woman was walking to her car parked in the St. Joseph Hospital parking garage when a man carrying a gun approached her and demanded money.

She gave him money from her purse but police say the man told her it wasn’t enough.

He then forced her to get into the passenger side of the car while he got in on the driver’s side and drove her to a bank.

Police say he forced her to take money from the ATM then he drove her to a nearby subdivision.

The suspect then told her to wait five minutes after he got out of the car then she could retrieve her keys from the windowsill of a nearby church.

He got out of the car and took the car keys and her cell phone.

Police say the woman waited five minutes, went to the church and found the car keys on the windowsill.

She then drove back to the hospital and called police.

She was not injured, according to police.

They say she was too shaken up to remember what bank the man took her to but investigators will try to narrow it down and hope to get surveillance photos of the suspect.
