UPDATE: Teen charged in Lexington shooting
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 16-year-old boy has been charged with assault in connection to the shooting of a 14-year-old, according to Lexington Police.
Officers say the shooting happened at an apartment on North Locust Hill Drive on Tuesday. According to investigators, the two teens, along with a third, were playing with a handgun when it went off, hitting the 14-year-old in the neck.
The victim remains in the hospital in stable condition.

Lexington police say a teenage boy was accidentally shot Tuesday night.
It happened at the Raintree apartments on North Locust Hill Drive. Police say the victim and two friends were inside an apartment and were playing with a firearm they’d found in the home. According to officers, the gun went off and hit the victim in the neck. He was taken to the hospital.
Police say they do not expect to file charges in the shooting.
