LPD: Shoplifter hit police cruiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington woman is accused of shoplifting then slamming into a police cruiser while trying to get away.

Court documents say 27-year-old Britane Webb shoplifted from a Ross store on Pavilion Way on Wednesday afternoon.

When an officer tried to stop her, documents say she took off in her car, reaching speeds between 60 and 80 miles per hour before striking the cruiser.

The officer was not hurt.

In addition to the theft of Ross, Webb is accused of shoplifting at other stores earlier this year.

Webb is charged with wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking.
