LPD: Robbery suspect hits police cruiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a suspect in an early morning convenience store robbery hit a police cruiser while trying to take off.

The robbery was just before 4:30 Tuesday morning at the Marathon gas station on Newtown Pike. Police say the suspect robbed a clerk at gunpoint and took off in a jeep.

Officers later found the jeep in a parking lot off Georgetown Road. ABC 36 was told when police went up to the car; the driver took off and sideswiped a cruiser.
Investigators say police caught up to that car once again and two people jumped out. Police say they have one of the men in custody.
