LPD: Robbery suspect’s fingerprint found on car of murder victim

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a teen arrested in connection to an armed robbery in Lexington is also connected to a homicide that happened on the same day.

18-year-old Anwar Ricketts is accused of robbing the Minit Mart on Towne Center Drive on April 3 at around 2:54 a.m.

According to court documents, Ricketts went into the store, pulled out a gun and demanded cash, getting around $260.

Police were later called to Devonport Drive for a homicide.

They say Christian Cubert was found shot to death.

Police believe he was shot inside his vehicle.

According to documents, detectives recovered a fingerprint from the exterior passenger’s side rear door, which was later confirmed to belong to Ricketts.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video and say it was Cubert who was driving the getaway car during the Minit Mart robbery.

Documents say Ricketts’ cell phone records showed he was in the area just prior to the robbery.

Ricketts is facing a first-degree robbery charge.
