LPD: One arrested after man found beaten, robbed
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police have made an arrest after a man was severely beaten with a pipe wrench and had his phone and cash stolen.
Officers say they were called to the Value Place Hotel on Monday just after 3:30 p.m. in reference to the assault. When they arrived, police say they found Jonathan Pruitt sitting under the awning of the hotel entrance, covered with blood and with severe lacerations on his head.
Officers say Pruitt told them he had been assaulted by Hayden Rodgers (pictured, above,) and Kevin Bentley. Police say Pruitt told them he owed Rodgers money and had gone to his home, but Rodgers wasn’t there. According to an arrest citation, Pruitt returned to the hotel, only for Rodgers and Bentley to show up later, stating, “Now we got you.”
Police say Bentley beat Pruitt with his fists, while Rodgers used a pipe wrench and struck Pruitt leaving cuts that required stitches, as well as a large bump on his head. According to officers, Bentley and Rodgers then took Pruitt’s cell phone and about $150 dollars in cash, before getting into a PT cruiser and driving away.
The hotel employee who witnessed the scene was able to get the license plate number off of the cruiser and give it to police.
On Tuesday, officers arrested 19-year-old Hayden Rodgers, and charged him with robbery.
Police are still looking for Kevin Bentley.
