LPD: Officer suffers minor injury in scuffle with suspect

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say an officer suffered minor injuries in a scuffle with a suspect after a foot chase. It happened late Monday afternoon when neighbors called police saying someone was breaking-in to an apartment in the 1800 block of Augusta Court.

Upon arrival, the officer got into a foot chase with the suspected burglar. Police say when the officer caught up to the suspect, the two got into a scuffle with the officer eventually using his taser and ultimately making the arrest. The officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries and returned to duty, according to investigators.

Police say the suspect was identified as 20-year old Bless Burnham, who they say has numerous felony warrants out against him in Fayette and other counties. Burnham was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center after being charged with burglary, bail jumping, fleeing and evading police and resisting arrest, among other charges, according to the jail website.
