LPD: Man leads officers on chase through construction site

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is facing multiple charges after police say he ran from officers through a construction site on Richmond Road while in possession of a handgun and narcotics.

Police say they arrested 23-year-old Jaylin Morton.

According to Lexington Police, Morton had several warrants leading up to this arrest.

On Monday, police say when Morton led officers on the chase, he had a handgun and narcotics inside his pockets.

They say Morton threw the items during the pursuit.

Police say they also found cocaine in three individually wrapped baggies.

According to police, Morton resisted arrest after officers were able to locate him.

Police also say on January 19th, a woman reported that Morton shot at her and several family members.

They say Morton was in a relationship with the woman’s daughter at the time.

On February 9th, Lexington Police say the woman’s daughter told officers that he entered the unlocked rear door of her apartment and verbally harassed her.

Morton is facing ten charges including wanton endangerment, burglary, fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest.

He will appear in court February 12th.
