LPD: Man forged checks, stole $17,000+ from employer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Police say a man is facing forgery and cold check charges, after stealing more than $17,000 from his employer.

According to police, 55-year-old David Smith cashed nearly 60 checks that he stole from his employer, Charlie’s Saw Shop.

They saw Smith cashed those checks at the H&M Grocery Store and Chase Bank ATMs.

Police say the amount that Smith stole from those checks totaled $17,325.00.

Smith will appear in court Thursday.
