LPD: Lexington Police find stolen vehicle abandoned

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a car that was stolen from a Speedway on Paris Pike was found abandoned on Oakwood Drive early Friday morning.

Police in Lexington say they were called to the store at around 11:45 p.m. Thursday night.  When they arrived, they say the car’s owner told them he had gone into the store, but left the car running and the doors unlocked.  When he came out of the store, the driver told police his car was gone.

Then, at around 2:00 a.m., a Scott County officer reported he had seen the vehicle, and followed it to the area of Cedarwood at Oakwood, but then couldn’t find it.

Lexington police found the car about an hour-and-a-half later, but say whoever had been in it was gone.

The owner of the car was able to recover it.

The suspects are still at large.
