LPD: Former employee stole over $100,000 from business
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Lexington say a woman has been arrested after she reportedly defrauded her former employer for more than $100,000 dollars.
According to officers, 44-year-old Tressa Tresten has been charged with theft by deception and unlawful access to a computer.
Police say, while Tresten was working at the Check Exchange on North Broadway, she printed checks to herself from a vendor payment account, and then altered the records in QuickBooks to cover up her tracks. Over the past four years, detectives say Tresten issued herself 110 checks, racking up $108,765 in fraudulent payments.
Officers say Tresten used the money for personal living expenses.
Tresten was taken to the Fayette Co. Detention Center. Officers are continuing their investigation to determine if she stole any additional funds.
