LPD: Fake DIRECTV salesperson scam

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Investigators with Lexington Police says a man sold several families deals on DirecTV, posing as an official salesperson. The man, police say, showed them figures on an iPad while wearing DIRECTV polo.

LPD says the man promised next-day delivery, and residents paid $50 to this scammer – only later realizing he had been a fake salesman.

Police advise everyone that you should never pay a door-to-door salesperson up front, instead asking for an ID and references. Likewise, they said, you should avoid paying in cash.
