LPD: Clerk fights back against robber

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A would-be thief apparently picked the wrong clerk to try and rob.

Lexington police say a man walked into the Circle K on Richmond Road before 2:30 a.m. Friday. His face was covered and he demanded cash and cigarettes.

Police say as he left, the clerk followed him out and the suspect picked up a metal pipe from the ground.

The two started to fight and the suspect dropped the pipe.

That’s when the clerk picked it up and started hitting the suspect with it, according to police.

The suspect ran off, dropping the cash and cigarettes on the ground.

Police are still looking for him.
