London woman arrives at detention center intoxicated
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) —It was a very short trip to jail for a London woman after police say she showed up in the front lobby of the Laurel Co. Detention Center intoxicated.
Officers say they received a call on Tuesday about a woman who appeared to be intoxicated at the jail. When they arrived, they say they found 26-year-old Joanna M. Mattingly, who told them she had been smoking marijuana and was high. According to a police report, she had slurred speech, constricted pupils, was unsteady on her feet, and was “manifestly under the influence of an unknown substance.”
Officers say they found a white plastic container in her purse that had marijuana inside of it. They also found a glass jar on Mattingly, with more marijuana in it. Police say Mattingly later told them she had forgotten she was carrying a marijuana pipe in her bra.
Mattingly was arrested and charged with public intoxication, possession of marijuana, and possessing drug paraphernalia.
