Local ‘reborn’ dolls to appear on “The Good Doctor”
ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – At first glance, you might mistake one of Charlotte Meadows’ or Karen Hutchinson’s newborn dolls for the real deal. And that’s the point.
The two run ‘Little Dreamers Reborn Nursery‘ in Rowan County. They create and sell lifelike dolls they call ‘reborns’.
While they’ve only been open for just over a year, their business is taking their skills to the big screen.
Eight of their reborn dolls were purchased for use on Monday’s episode of “The Good Doctor” set to air at 10 p.m. ET.
Meadows says it takes, “layers and layers of paint” to achieve the realistic look.
Each doll is created from a kit but custom made according to a customer’s request or Meadows’ and Hutchinson’s vision of what the doll should look like.
Each baby is also weighted to give it that extra realistic feel.
The business has grown in popularity so much they’ve moved to a new location in Mt. Sterling to accommodate the growth.
The pair met when Meadows came into Hutchinson’s ‘Kid Connection’ consignment shop looking for children’s clothes. Meadows started creating reborn dolls six years ago after purchasing one online for her niece, Gracie.
The episode of “The Good Doctor” will air Monday, Feb. 18 at 10 p.m.
