Local Federal Employee Working With No Payday in Sight
One man who spoke anonymously to ABC 36, says he works at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington and is not being paid right now. However he says he still has to show up to work, or else he will be fired.
He says it feels like "a slap in the face" having to keep showing up to work, with no idea when he may be paid again.
As a father, he says it’s nerve-wracking not knowing when he’ll be able to support his family again.
He also says it’s hard to go to work and not get paid when people are still able to collect unemployment through the shutdown.
Federal officials say all employees who work with no pay will eventually be given their checks when the shutdown ends or lawmakers come to an agreement.
