A little girl is dead after being left in a hot car

CRITTENDEN, Ky. (WTVQ)- It was hot this weekend and state troopers say a child was found dead in a car in Grant County.

It happened on Big Bear Circle in Crittenden.

Troopers say Saturday afternoon a neighbor found a two-year-old girl in a car.

The trooper who came to the scene tried to perform CPR, but wasn’t successful.

The toddler was taken to the hospital where the coroner pronounced her dead.

An organization called Kids and Cars says Kentucky ranks 11th in the country for child hot car deaths with 23 deaths since 1993.

State police urge parents to look before they leave, to place bags in the back seat, and to make sure you turn around before leaving the car.
