Lingering rain and rumbles of thunder Wednesday

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! More rain is on the way Wednesday after heavy overnight rain for portions of the ABC 36 viewing area. The heaviest of the overnight rain fell in Owen, Scott, and Woodford counties, where radar estimates show 2-3″+ fell within a 4-6 hour timeframe. This rain is pivoting around an area of low pressure that is *slowly* moving across the region. Rain and storms chances will continue as this system exits to the east throughout the day. Wrap around moisture circulating the area of the low pressure will fire up more showers and storms later today into the afternoon and evening hours. Additional rainfall amounts upwards of half an inch to an inch in spots.

Rainfall exits tonight and gives way to patchy dense fog developing Thursday morning. Most of the daytime looks dry and warm on Thursday, but there is the chance of some isolated showers and storms moving in during the evening hours. Most of this activity will be dissipating before reaching our area but still worth mentioning.

Unsettled weather returns Friday and will last through the weekend. Another slow moving area of low pressure will pass through the region, bringing a return of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team for more updates.
