UPDATE: Homes evacuated after water tower break

UPDATE: LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky American Water says customers in the area have water service.

They also report there is no boil water advisory.

Water officials say they have visited with property owners and confirmed that water did not enter their residence.

The tank has been taken out of service and will be assessed and repaired before being placed back into service, says KAW.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Fire Department says a water tower break on York Street has flooded the street.

Fire officials say they have evacuated some homes along Eddie Street.

The tank holds one million gallons of water, according to LFD. They say just now they have successfully shut off the valve.

Fire officials say they are not sure what caused the valve to break. KY American Water will investigate the cause.
