LFD: Man suffers smoke inhalation in house fire
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Around 9:00 p.m. Thursday, a neighbor in the 1900 block of Wickland Drive in Lexington noticed a house was on fire and started banging on the front door to try to wake up the sleeping homeowner, according to Lexington firefighters.
The man inside was rescued and taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. He is expected to survive, according to firefighters. His name wasn’t released.
Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen, but they don’t know the cause yet.
There is significant damage to the inside of the home, according to investigators.
When the homeowner is released from the hospital, he won’t be able to stay in the home because of the extent of the damage, according to firefighters.
