LFD: Blue Grass Avenue Home Destroyed by Fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to the Lexington Fire Department an unoccupied home was destroyed by an early morning fire.

Crews were called to the 100 block of Blue Grass Avenue around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Battalion Chief Jeff Nantz tells ABC 36 —when crews arrived to the two-story home it was fully engulfed in flames.

ABC 36 was told crews searched the home and found no one inside. According to neighbors, the home was a rental and had been vacant for some time.

Neighbors on both sides of the home were evacuated as a precaution.

One home has heat damage to its side panel because of the fire, according to investigators.

Blue Grass Avenue at North Limestone and Willow Lawn Avenue have been blocked while crews continue to put out hot spots.

Fire investigators say they believe the fire may have started from the rear of the home – but an official cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

No injuries were reported.
