Lextran saves a seat for Rosa Parks

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – February is Black History Month and Lextran is celebrating in its own unique way.

Lextran has 65 buses and almost all of the buses have a Rosa Parks sign in one of the front seats.

Monday is the first day the signs were put on the seats because it’s Rosa’s birthday.

“I think it’s a really good reminder of how things have changed,” said Kimberly Bottom, Passenger.

On every sign is a QR code that you can scan on your phone and it will tell you which Rosa Parks books are available at the Lexington Public Library.

“We’re not just saving a seat on the bus and walking away from it, we’re offering an education piece to the public as well,” said Emily Elliott, Lextran Community Relations Manager.

The signs will stay on the bus seats through Friday, February 8th.
