Lextran looks to hire more public transportation bus drivers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lextran is hoping to bring people back to work by hiring up to 20 public transit operators for full time year round positions. The company says they’re also enticing some of their potential candidates with a $1000 hiring bonus for those who apply and are hired. General manager Jill Barnett says she knows there’s competition with the school district needing bus drivers too. However, she says she’s confident both career fields will find the people needed. Lextran says it will go the extra mile to make drivers feel confident

“To start with Lextran you do not need that commercial drivers license. We will put you through a training class to help you get your driving permit and pass the road test,” says Barnett.

Candidate Aaron Williams says he’s been out of work for over a month after losing his job with Toyota. Getting this job would change his life around.

“I’ve been staying at a hotel when I can afford it..And when I can’t afford it I stay in my car it’s not real fun being homeless,” says Williams. “I don’t have a way to feed myself..Its just real hard but I just pray and keep myself motivated and keep going and so hopefully this is the start in the right direction,”

There’s still time to get an application for yourself in.

Here are the requirements:

– You’ll need to be 18 to apply
