Lexington Trash Collection Adjusted For New Year’s Day

The Division of Waste Management said it would adjust its collection schedule for next Thursday.

Because of the New Year’s holiday, the city said it would be picking up trash a day early.

So bins at businesses and homes that were normally picked up on Thursday would instead be picked up on Wednesday, December 31.

The city said there would not be any changes on the Friday trash collection schedule.

People who needed to get rid of old electronics was asked to take them to the city’s Electronic Recycling Center at 1306 Versailles Road.

The city was also picking up discarded live Christmas trees from homes on normal collection days through mid-January.

Residents were encouraged to place trees on the curb before Jan. 9 to ensure collection by the division on their regular service day.

Discarded fake Christmas trees could also be placed out for pick-up, either bagged inside the Herbie or placed next to the container.
