Lexington to test its outdoor warning sirens Wednesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Emergency Management will test its network of outdoor warning sirens Wednesday, December 6, at 10:00 a.m.

If you live near a park or golf course, expect to hear the outdoor siren sound a series of chimes followed by a voice announcement “This is a test.”

This is a regularly scheduled test which occurs on the first Wednesday of each month when severe weather is not expected.

Citizens are asked not call 9-1-1 for information about the siren test.

The warning siren located in downtown Lexington is inactive due to maintenance issues. There will be no test of the downtown emergency warning siren.
