Lexington shoppers get head start on Black Friday deals

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Hopefully, you are starting to wake up from your turkey coma. Some people skipped the feast on Thanksgiving, choosing instead to wait in line at their favorite stores for pre-Black Friday deals. In fact, some stores were open for more hours on Thanksgiving than on Black Friday.

People waited in line for hours Thursday at Best Buy and Toys “R” Us on Nicholasville road for their one shot at the best deals.

A father and son were first in line at Best Buy. They say they arrived 24 hours in advance to line up.

The Thanksgiving day weather was cold and gloomy making for some uncomfortable time in line.

Several people at Best Buy were excited for savings on tablets and televisions. Some deals saved people almost $200.

Believe it or not, some people say they enjoyed waiting on line, sharing laughs with family.

Some families waiting for stores to open say they enjoyed a turkey meal earlier in the day on Thursday. At least one person waiting outside Toys “R” Us feasted while standing in line.

It might not seem very thankful, standing in the cold and waiting for stores to open, but several of the people in line said they gave thanks in their own way with family and the bargains that make them smile.
