Lexington Shoppers Celebrate Small Business Saturday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Everyone knows how the holiday season goes. We start with Thanksgiving, then Black Friday shopping, but we cannot forget Small Business Saturday.
Small businesses gathered at the Fifth Third Pavilion the Saturday after Thanksgiving for the Lexington Farmer’s Market.
Vendors say the shopping day makes a big difference for their books.
“If it weren’t for the support the community gives small businesses, then we would be absorbed into big box stores, so we cannot exist without that support to small businesses that the community provides,” said Alvina Maynard, owner of River Hill Ranch.
“It gives us a chance to bring our product to the people of Lexington and surrounding counties and we appreciate the chance to do this and we also appreciate the fact that we can put good food within their reach,” said Paul Quarles, owner of Quarles Farms.
Vendors at the Farmer’s Market say shoppers should come check them out during the winter months too. They say it will be warm and cozy because they have added side covers to the pavilion to cut down on wind.
